Rock & Roll Happy Hour 05/12/17: Bluesapalooza and Mammoth Brewing!

It’s time to get high. REALLY high.

May 12, 2017

That’s right, tonight’s show takes on Mammoth Brewing Co., California’s highest brewery—in terms of elevation that is (what were YOU thinking?). We’ll also be looking ahead to their 22nd annual Bluesapalooza festival in August. Tickets for this epic festival amidst the piney, mountainous splendor of Mammoth Lakes, CA are going fast, so before you run out to get that last minute card and carnation for mom, get your tickets and all the details NOW! She'll understand.

Joining us from Mammoth is their Viking of the South himself, Colin Gebhard, who slings their tasty brews all over SoCal. (You can also find him working the tap handles at PCH Sports Bar & Grill in O-side, so why not drop in for a beer and have him show you his latest ink!) Be sure to join us as we preview the August festivities with Colin and sample some tasty mountaintop brews!

  • Gooseberry Sour A refreshing kettle sour released for spring, this one has been mellowed in the barrel for 6 months and is brewed with fresh-picked gooseberries just up the road from the brewery.
  • Epic IPA Everything you want: uber hoppy, but with a nice malt presence to warm your toes after a day of snowboarding.
  • Double Nut Brown No nuts were harmed in the brewing of this smooth and roasty treat.
  • IPA 395 Smells like the road to Mammoth. We must be getting close! Sage, juniper and wild mountain hops make you feel like you’re there.
  • Legend of Uler Named for the Norse god of the snows, this (write this down) is a kettle-soured porter with juniper, pear and vanilla. Sound complicated? It’s not. Smooth and delicious, it’s reminiscent of peach cobbler.
  • Lair of the Bear Seek this one out and don’t tell anyone if you find it. It’s just you and the bear. A once a year release, this ursa major of a brew is aged in bourbon barrels and is one of Jeremy and Ken’s favorites. Heaven Hill help us!
